Market Background
Jamaica has long faced challenges with unstable grid infrastructure and frequent power outages, particularly affecting industrial operations. For manufacturers, these disruptions lead to production delays, increased costs, and risks to sensitive equipment, making reliable backup power a critical requirement.
Client & Application Scenario
Our client, a local factory in Jamaica, operates continuous production lines that demand stable and uninterrupted electricity. Due to frequent blackouts and voltage fluctuations, the factory required a dependable power solution to support its daily operations and protect equipment performance.
Our Solution
MBKL POWER supplied 2 units of 680kW (850kVA) open-type diesel generator sets, configured at 50Hz and 440V to match local grid standards. Each generator is powered by a high-performance diesel engine with 1500 RPM operation, ensuring durability and long service life. With a fuel consumption rate of ≤215 g/kWh, the solution helps reduce operating costs while maintaining high efficiency.
The generator sets are equipped with AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation), delivering ±1% voltage stability, which is essential for protecting sensitive machinery. Additional features such as electronic speed control, 24V DC electric start, and a brushless alternator design ensure fast response, reliable startup, and low maintenance requirements. The robust structure and industrial-grade configuration make the units suitable for continuous operation in demanding environments.
Results & Performance
After installation, the factory achieved uninterrupted production even during extended outages. The stable 400/230V three-phase output ensured smooth equipment operation, while the energy-efficient design significantly reduced fuel consumption over time. The client also benefited from improved operational reliability and reduced maintenance frequency.
Client Feedback
The customer reported high satisfaction with the performance and stability of the generator sets, highlighting the consistent power output and noticeable cost savings. The fast startup capability and reliable voltage control were especially valued in emergency situations.
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how MBKL POWER’s 680kW diesel generator solutions effectively address power instability in Jamaica. By combining high power output, low fuel consumption, and stable voltage control, the solution provides a reliable and cost-efficient backup power system for industrial users.
